What Our Students Are Saying
I am so glad I learned to sew! There are lots of creative people in my family and I love that I’m one of them and that I know how to make the things I want to wear and have been able to make gifts for people. I like to make clothes the most and stuffies as a break because clothes are usually more challenging. The teachers (especially Sarah) are so nice and have really taught me a lot.
I love the Makery and learning to sew! The Makery is a quiet, comfortable and welcoming space. I enjoy learning to make new things and being able to fix things too! I love all the patterns available at the Makery and all the creative things I can make. I love the teachers, they are patient, kind and helpful. My favorite day of the week is when I have sewing class, I would go everyday if I could!
The most challenging project I’ve made was the Sand Hill Sling. My favorite project I’ve made was the beach bag!!!! My favorite thing about sewing is making my own things the way I want them, like when you buy something it may not have the fabric you want, and expressing my feelings through what I make!!!!
Caitlin and her staff are fantastic! She taught me to sew and then my kids! She’s very patient and truly cares about the kids. She taught my kids to use the machine safely and independently to the point where they critique my sewing technique, “Mom, don’t put your fingers in the danger zone!”. Highly recommend.
The most challenging project I made was the shirt. My favorite project I have ever made was my purple cross body bag. My favorite thing about sewing is everything! My favorite thing to sew is gifts.
My favorite thing to sew is clothing, mainly dresses. A couple of favorites I’ve made include a pink wrap dress and a one-shoulder dress that I combined patterns to create.
I love sewing at The Makery! I don’t think you could find a studio with more helpful or nicer teachers!
Sewing is one of my favorite activities because you can be so creative and the teachers will help you make anything you want to make at any level.

Some of my favorite things to sew are gifts for my friends and family at holidays or birthdays. I like to make little chickens, keychains, pillows, and wallets.
I have been sewing at The Makery for almost 10 years now and I am so glad that I stuck with it. Especially over the past few years I have made some really good friends and learned to push through challenges, even when a project feels like it will never end. The Makery has been such an important place to me for basically my whole life, I am always encouraged to try my ideas (even when they are completely crazy) and I am so grateful for all the people (especially Caitlin) and experiences that this place brought me.
Sewing is one of my favorite things to do and when I started I never expected it to become such a big part of my life. The friends I have made in my classes are some of my favorite people and they make sewing even better. After sewing for a while I realized that I loved quilting and patchworking. I also discovered my passion for clothing design which inspired me to become a fashion designer when I grow up. Without sewing or the Makery I don’t think I would be the person I am today. I am extremely grateful to the Makery, Caitlin, Sarah, Marissa, and the entire Makery community.
Hi my name is Katie and my favorite things to sew are clothes and bags. The most challenging project I’ve ever made was a dress I made for my mom. I love sewing because it reminds me of my mom. She taught me how to sew when I was 5 years old. Also I think each teacher is amazing and super talented.
My daughter, who rejects most activities, came home super excited about sewing class. She loved every minute and was eager to go back! Caitlin is calm, patient, and very knowledgeable. Send your kids here!
The most challenging project I’ve made is the library tote bag because it was my first sewing project ever. My favorite project I’ve made is the pillowcase because it’s pretty and looks good in my bedroom!
My favorite thing about sewing is there are so many fun, new projects to try!
I started sewing right before Covid. I’ve done a lot of projects since then the most challenging probably being my newest quilt (The one displayed). It was a really fun project and I love the results but it was a long process. I learned a lot about precise sewing to be able to come out with the result I was hoping for. I also got it professionally quilted which was really awesome to get to see! I’ve also sewn a lot of clothes over the years from pj pants (obviously) to shorts and tshirts. I love sewing stuffies of course and have made a lot of birthday gifts of stuffies. I’ve loved being in the Thursday quilt class and hearing a bunch of interesting stories and sewing methods (also math methods) and learning more and more about sewing. I’ve loved being at the Makery and am excited for projects to come!
I like how there’s such a variety of fabrics at the Makery! My favorite projects are a duffel bag and a little piggy that I made for my newborn cousin.
