There are 2 Levels of Sewing Summer Camps based on the difficulty of the techniques used in the projects that week. Please only sign up for classes appropriate for your child’s level. We know sometimes kids are excited about a project but if it is too far beyond their abilities, they won’t be happy with the results and it will be challenging for all of us. Experienced sewists are welcome to do any of the camps. If you have any question about your student’s abilities, please email us to discuss or ask your child’s instructor.
Learn to Sew Friendly– This week will start with instruction on how to use the sewing machine safely and some practice sewing. The projects will mostly use straight lines at the beginning of the week and increase in difficulty as the week goes on. Experienced sewists are welcome to take these classes. Their projects will likely be more polished and we can offer them extra projects as needed. Ages 7 and up.
Intermediate– We will not start with an overview on using the machine and we expect students have taken a Learn to Sew class or Camp before. These projects will be able to be completed by a beginner sewist ready to learn new techniques and skills. These projects may require sewing curves and more precise stitching. Projects may use challenging fabrics or have more cutting and prep work and require more patience for the project to come together.
We will have Weekly Themed Camps that run Monday through Thursday 9am-1pm.
We also have Mini Camps which run Tuesday & Thursday 1-3pm both days for 1 week.
We will offer a Weekly Sewing Studio on Mondays & Wednesdays 1-3pm. More may be added if there is a demand.
Weekly Monday-Thursday 9-1 Camps (bring a lunch or buy one from Dribbles) Themed Projects and Free Sewing Time. Lunch outdoors.

What Our Students Are Saying
I am so glad I learned to sew! There are lots of creative people in my family and I love that I’m one of them and that I know how to make the things I want to wear and have been able to make gifts for people. I like to make clothes the most and stuffies as a break because clothes are usually more challenging. The teachers (especially Sarah) are so nice and have really taught me a lot.
I love the Makery and learning to sew! The Makery is a quiet, comfortable and welcoming space. I enjoy learning to make new things and being able to fix things too! I love all the patterns available at the Makery and all the creative things I can make. I love the teachers, they are patient, kind and helpful. My favorite day of the week is when I have sewing class, I would go everyday if I could!
Caitlin and her staff are fantastic! She taught me to sew and then my kids! She’s very patient and truly cares about the kids. She taught my kids to use the machine safely and independently to the point where they critique my sewing technique, “Mom, don’t put your fingers in the danger zone!”. Highly recommend.
My favorite thing about sewing is making friends and family gifts!
My daughter, who rejects most activities, came home super excited about sewing class. She loved every minute and was eager to go back! Caitlin is calm, patient, and very knowledgeable. Send your kids here!
I have been sewing at The Makery for almost 10 years now and I am so glad that I stuck with it. Especially over the past few years I have made some really good friends and learned to push through challenges, even when a project feels like it will never end. The Makery has been such an important place to me for basically my whole life, I am always encouraged to try my ideas (even when they are completely crazy) and I am so grateful for all the people (especially Caitlin) and experiences that this place brought me.
Sewing is one of my favorite things to do and when I started I never expected it to become such a big part of my life. The friends I have made in my classes are some of my favorite people and they make sewing even better. After sewing for a while I realized that I loved quilting and patchworking. I also discovered my passion for clothing design which inspired me to become a fashion designer when I grow up. Without sewing or the Makery I don’t think I would be the person I am today. I am extremely grateful to the Makery, Caitlin, Sarah, Marissa, and the entire Makery community.
Quilts are definitely my favorite, even though they’re really time consuming, and I love even turning regular patterns into quilted versions of the project, and my favorite thing I’ve ever made is my quilted backpack. Being able to turn an idea into a piece of art and something really creative has always been what I love most about it (and when I was younger I liked impressing people with my ability to sew headbands, scrunchies, handbags, stuffies and pajama pants). I have so many hilarious stories from sewing it’s hard to choose just one, but we all swap stories at class every week ( let us never forget Barbie math) and always have a great time together. I’ve made so many pals from the Makery even from when I was little. Ava, Lexi, Marley, Elin and I started sewing together a few years ago and our group has now been dubbed “the quit club”, hence the missing L on our quilt bin. I’ve done a lot of different things over the years, but I’ve stuck with sewing all the way through; just coming every week and working on ridiculously long projects never gets old! Thank you so much to Caitlin and Sarah, who’ve taught me over the years, and for inspiring us with everything fashion and quilting!!
