Prerequisite: Student must have completed Learn to Sew or have equivalent experience. A 1-on-1 or small group can be scheduled for this if there is no Learn to Sew class available.
Once your child has completed the basic Learn to Sew class, he/she may join in any Sewing Studio class that has space available. (ALL former students are welcome to register for this course) During the weekly Sewing Studio, each student will work on projects of their choosing at their own pace. Sewing Studio students choose the day and time that fits their schedule and commit to that class weekly for the 6 Week Session. You will have first dibs on keeping your same day and time to continue another 6 week Session immediately following.
Classes on Mondays, September 13, 20, 27, Oct 4, 18, 25
NO CLASS October 11th
*All fabrics and materials used for projects sewn in class are included in the class cost.
For 2021- You will have the option to purchase a TOOL KIT for $40 for your child to use this year if you would like them to use their own tools instead of shared studio tools. The Tool Kit includes scissors, pins, sewing clips, seam ripper, measuring tape and other tools and notions your child will need to sew. Each Kit is packaged in a sturdy, clear, wipeable zip top bag. The Tool Kit will be labeled and stored at The Makery while your child is enrolled but it is yours to keep should you stop sewing with us. Students who purchased a Tool Kit last year may use that again this year as well.

As with any class, students are welcome to use the Babylock sewing machines we have at the studio or bring their own from home. We have set up 6 separate Sewing Stations adequately spaced from each other. We have plenty of hand sanitizer available and frequently wipe down all tables, machines and touch points throughout the studio. Regarding masks, we will wait until closer to the start of classes to determine what is recommended by the CDC. We will likely follow whatever the Scituate schools are doing. All staff are fully vaccinated.
Students are always welcome and encouraged to make up missed classes. Please inform us ahead of time if you will miss a class and we can let you know when the make ups are offered. Refunds/Discounts will not be given for missed classes
Each student will learn new skills as they work through projects of their choosing. We have many project options available at each level or you can bring your own ideas. Students work to meet the required skills for each level, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple. Students will work through the skills to progress into the next color level. Each level has it’s own group of skills, patterns and privileges. We are happy to explain more of this in detail if you have any questions.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at email@example.com
We write and utilize many of our own patterns at the studio. If you are looking for something in particular, here are some of our favorite sites for easy to follow patterns you can find online.
We highly recommend many PDF patterns that can be purchased online and printed out at home. When you print them, just make sure you print at 100%, No Scaling, No “fit to page”. Just bring in the pattern and I’ll teach your child how to put it together to use. Here are our favorites:
For clothing, including a whole line for Tweens: Create Kids Couture
For Stuffed Animals: Dolls and Daydreams
For purses and bags: Swoon
